Bilateral Deficits during Maximal Grip Force Production in Late Postmenopausal Women

نویسندگان

چکیده

The purpose of this study was to investigate bilateral deficit patterns during maximal hand-grip force production in late postmenopausal women. Twenty and 20 young premenopausal women performed isometric grip tasks with dominant nondominant hands both hands, respectively. For women, pulse wave analysis used for identifying a potential relationship between strength risk factors cardiovascular disease. findings showed that produced significantly decreased hand conditions compared those Bilateral appeared forces were related greater patterns. Further, less unilateral correlated central pressure. These suggested age-related impairments muscle estrogen deficiency may interfere conducting successful activities movements. assessing predict disease

Superimposed electrical stimulation decreases maximal grip force.

AIM The purpose of this study was to assess maximal grip force in two conditions of voluntary muscular contraction (MVC) and electrical stimulation superimposed on voluntary muscular contraction (SES) to better understand mechanisms and effectiveness of electrical stimulation of the hand. There is conflicting evidence regarding the effectiveness of electrical stimulation superimposed on volunta...

Cross-Talk in Mechanomyographic Signals from the Forearm Muscles during Sub-Maximal to Maximal Isometric Grip Force

PURPOSE This study aimed: i) to examine the relationship between the magnitude of cross-talk in mechanomyographic (MMG) signals generated by the extensor digitorum (ED), extensor carpi ulnaris (ECU), and flexor carpi ulnaris (FCU) muscles with the sub-maximal to maximal isometric grip force, and with the anthropometric parameters of the forearm, and ii) to quantify the distribution of the cross...

Force production during maximal effort bend sprinting: Theory vs reality.

This study investigated whether the "constant limb force" hypothesis can be applied to bend sprinting on an athletics track and to understand how force production influences performance on the bend compared with the straight. Force and three-dimensional video analyses were conducted on seven competitive athletes during maximal effort sprinting on the bend (radius 37.72 m) and straight. Left ste...

The properties and interrelationships of various force-time parameters during maximal repeated rhythmic grip.

The purpose of this study was to examine the properties and interrelationships of various force-time parameters including the inflection point for the rate of decline in force during a maximal repeated rhythmic grip. Fifteen healthy males (age M=21.5, SD=2.1 yr, height M=172.4, SD=5.7 cm, body mass M=68.2, SD=9.2 kg) participated in this study. Subjects performed a maximal repeated rhythmic gri...

The bilateral movement condition facilitates maximal but not submaximal paretic-limb grip force in people with post-stroke hemiparesis.

OBJECTIVES Although healthy individuals have less force production capacity during bilateral muscle contractions compared to unilateral efforts, emerging evidence suggests that certain aspects of paretic upper limb task performance after stroke may be enhanced by moving bilaterally instead of unilaterally. We investigated whether the bilateral movement condition affects grip force differently o...
